Naah, it's comparatively insignificant also for the big boys. The cost of oil over a season comparatively is insignificant on our smaller engines. The big boys on the forum, maybe not so much.
From a diesel engine? And this is a mineral oil? I'll have some of that!

'Course you might be shocked by the quantity of oil that goes in a Cat C32, but everything is relative: that shock is easily overcome by fuel burn...![]()
can the shell stuff used in D6 engines
Having had the wonderful TAMD61A engines in the P385, I use mineral oil at 15w-40. Quite important to keep to the mineral stuff with these, at least in the 61 and similar series. They have a shine to this.
At 15l per engine it’s not too cheap, but they are old fashioned commercial and simple things. They do well with old fashioned and simple oil.
She has the oil changed religiously each year, despite the hours logged.
Never had an issue. Comma is the brand used most recently.
I know, I know, it’s not marine grade, but these engines are hardy and don’t mind it. They are after all, Simple and derived from truck engines.
Should she be earlier in her life, I would consider running the excellent Rock Oil marine semi synthetic oil. Likely do more harm than good now.
With my other more modern boat, marine grade oil all the way.
Keep those crankcase breathers clean too.
All the best.
So back to D6 What do peeps put in their d6 ,s please
I'm pretty sure they're diesel Roy :encouragement:

I just called Opie Oils bcz they have a whole host of prices on different parts of their website.
To save decanting those 20l tubs I bought the 5 litre cans ,times 5, which was bit
but not a whole lot more expensive .. and is alot easier to get into the engines!
I used their chat service bcz I couldn't make sense of their website..in the end I paid a bit under 4 quid a litre incl Vat and delivery..as there is also a discount if you ask in chat.
