I'm replacing the engine mounts for a Volvo MD1 with an approx. weight of 145Kg. (320 Lbs) Am I right in assuming that new mounts should cater for around 80Lbs each? Should all 4 be identical?

thanks,

I changed the mounts on my Bukh DV36, which also has the flywheel at the front, last summer and was supprised to find different mounts for front and back. They looked identical, but had a different part numbers, so I think they must be for diffent weights.

From some of the info in the manual and what came with the mounts, I conclude that soem Bukhs use a different mount on one side.

If no-one can give you a definative answer here, I would strongly advise that you talk to a good dealer of even phone the maker's technical department.

Yes, it is common for the front and rear mounts to be different, depending on the engine. If you are rich use the proper Volvo Penta mounts, otherwise shop around and you should be able to get them MUCH cheaper. Try
http://www.trelleborg.com/industrialavs/ who often supplied the original to engine manufacturers Vetus also do some reasonablty priced mounts.

My MD1 has very different mounts front and back. The front ones are much bigger and heavier and a comletely different shape. I relaced the rear ones without removing the engine a few years back by lifting the engine from the rear ( through an access hole in the cockpit sole using a pull - lift.
If you find a supplier please let me know.
