Due to an altercation with a reef in north Borneo we suffered damage to all 4 of our engine mounts. Being a Volvo Penta brought the problem of cost of replacement. Stock was not a problem.

After some internet searches found Triflex MTG 1807-45 mounts from GMT to be suitable for both price and physical properties. Must give Ben Dyson from GMT (I have no association with the Coy) some public recognition for his professionalism, service and pricing. Cost was way below anything else available on the market.

Parts are now on the way so should be back in cruising mode again next week.

I did the same as you for my MD 22.
The 45 at the end means that it is 45 shore hardness, i found out that trelleborg make em for vp, they call them metalistik cushy floats, an outfit called robush are the main peeps for them, £29 each plus vat and carriage, makes a hell of a difference
see here
http://www.robush.co.uk/product.cfm just be aware that VP use metric fine thread and you have to tell the girl that otherwise you get metric course thread as std and have to make up new studs.

Engine Mounts for MD22L

Dear Stu - as someone who obviously knows the Volvo MD22L engine well could you please tell me which metalistik mounts to order and also what is the best way to change engine mounts.

My engine is mounted in a Westerly OceanLord and the original ones have been in since 1996.

Advice much appreciated.

Go here http://www.robush.co.uk/products/trelleborg_range/PDFS/Cushyfloat.pdf v nice to deal with, £20 ish plus vat etc. Check out your bolt spacings to get the size, also you need the Shore Hardness 45. You will see this stamped on the bottom plate of the mount. Also be aware they stock COARSE metric thread as STD, ask for the fine thread, if they havent got them in stock then do as i did and get a machine shop to rethread your old studs.
17609 45 if my memory is correct, CHECK!
I did mine one at a time, used a wedge of wood between the gearbox and hull to hold it in place, a car jack is just as good, you will have fun getting the old bolts out!!

Thanks Stu - Looks like a winter job for me. Can one see the stamp on the bottom plate without removing the engine mount first?

regards Nigel
The number is usually visible, have checked the md22, tmd22 and d55, they are all the same, 45. checking on one of the euro vp sites, the part numbers are all the same.

Engine Mounts for MD22L and loss of Coolant

Thanks Stu - I will have a look. On another thread I had mentioned continuing loss of coolant on MD22L. Had the heat exchanger apart but still no joy. Tried french version of radweld which has now fixed the problem. However, also flushed through a few times to clean the cooling system through to make sure no muck messing the coolant up.

The coolant loss is usually the O rings on the tube stack, but you seem to have covered that, did you change the rings? Also the pressure cap?

Metalastik cushyfloat engine mounts

Just come off the phone to Robush and they are asking the following questions:

1. length of thread
2 diameter of thread
3. pitch of thread.

Gave them their part no. ie 17-1609-45 and asked for Fine thread and that does not seem enough for them. This is proving alot harder than I would have imagined.
