Engine Mounts Maintanance

Is there a necessity to consider maintenance to engine mounts? Can they be sprayed with something or just left alone. I have no concern and they look fine, on a Volvo Penta 2001. Just a mid-winter thought.

The only maintenance I can think of for an engine mount is to replace it if it is knackered. Otherwise let well alone.

No harm can be done by checking them...

Personally I crawl all over my engine room to make sure everything is in good order, trying to do it when bouncing around isn't one of my favourite thoughts.

Yes check that the rubber has not turned to mush with deisel contamination and on volvo 2000 series check that the rear mounting brackets are not mishapened if they are the twisted metal sort not cast and check for presence of the front sump bumpers

Seem to remember a magazine article on VP 2000 series concerning weld failure on rear mounts. Either PBO or YM.

Original 2001/2/3 rear mounts were pressed steel; many of them cracked or sheared. The replacement ones are cast.
