I have the standard VP instrument panel for my TMD22P . I'd like to upgrade to the De-Lux panel which has in addition a water temperature gauge and a oil pressure gauge. I managed to source a VP panel but I think this was for another engine as the rev counter is calibrated for higher revs. It came with its own 16 pin harness cable. I initially tried to connect the cable to the socket on the engine but could not manage to plug it in - was this my fault or are there different connections for panels? Hoping I was at fault and there is no compatibility issue with the panel I have also bought senders for oil pressure and water temperature but do not understand how to fit or to wire in . Any advice before I start this job much appreciated.

The rev counters have an adjustment on the back to calibrate for different alternators/source. There will be a different plug, extra connections for the extra datas input. Are you any good at soldering? You will need to cut and solder probably. If you succeed I would be interested in your old panel

it wo uld help to get hold or a look at the long out of print accessories catalog relevant to the time when the 22 was sold as there was kits available to make it simple but the only place you may find one is VP dealer who did as I did and kept the old ones

if you look in the on line VP parts list it would appear that the senders are actually fitted already which will help as they need to be insulated return
I would suggest forget the loom on the new pane and use the one from the old
