I have recently purchased a colvic northener fitted with a leyand mermaid diesel engine..
The ref nos on the engine are as follows
18p 885b d1661
Meermin 5844
Can anyone tell me the hp of this engine.
I need to order a replacement fuel pump which should be straightforward but it would be nice to know the engine size and id.

Among others state that the diesel pump is part. no. C.A.V.-DPA.3246F857

the diesel pump ref that you mentioned is for the 1.8 engine and i am not sure if mine is 1,5 or 1.8 engine. is there an easy way to identify.

It is a bit strange that the manual cover both engines yet state only one pump.
Google is your friend, using the info creatively.
According to www.bobbeckfuelinjection.co.uk the 1.8 might be no. 3247F180 . A call would clarify

BTW the manual has guidance on identification of 1.5 vs 1.8 and the pump itself should have a label with number etc.

Did you consider repair or rebuild over replacement?

The 1.8 pump is driven from the front timing case & is horizontal.The 1.5 pump is close to the flywheel housing & is vertical
