Morning all,

I'm looking for some info and any experience anyone may have had with multi engine diagnostics tools. I have a mix of Yanmar and Seadoo engines too look after and am in the market for a diagnostic tool, preferably one that i can use for both manufacturers. I used separate ones in the past ie the Vodia for Volvos, and Candoo for the Seadoo's...

I have found a promising unit, the Jaltest Marine, it looks have all the functions needed, but cannot find any reviews or anyone actually using this box of tricks. Is there anyone out there in the community that has used one of these before, and does anyone have any thoughts on their functionality?

Many thanks...

Have a look at facebook on the hgv pages, there are basically two aftermarket bits of kit Jaltest and Texa, lots of opinions, I think both are expensive for what they are, but if you are charging the work out not an issue.

We use the Texa at work and whilst its not dealer level it does the job, I think its worst point is the lack of info on a fault, for example it may say code xyz open circuit on sensor abc, click for more info, except there isnt any more info:disgust:
But I think so long as you have access to the internet the code is a good starting point.

I personally find it infuriating at times, but then I find everyhting infuriating!

It quite often needs updats, whether they are foc or not I dont know.

On the other hand for my sins I run land rovers and have a Gap IID tool, it is the total dogs danglies, can talk to all 28ecus on my car. tell me literally everything that is happening, reprogramme most bits incl stuff that land rover cant do, fits in the palm of my hand and is 400 quid, which will be about 10 percent of the Texa.
Similiar software for my wifes Vag motor is 275 quid ( not a cheap copy) and again is dealer level but is more complicated to use than the Gap tool.

Edit to add we also have some Terberg tugs running Cummins ISB/QSB and Allsion trnasmissions, basically a kit truck and the Texa can be hit and miss with them and I would hazard a guess this is how most boats will be, ie a bit of this and a bit of that?
