Hi all
Anyone experienced with this issue?
I've dug out this 44 year old Yam /Mariner 15c which I bought in lockdown. Just fired up for the first time.
Have got an issue with the water cooling feed pick upto and thru the jackets etc
Its lightly splutters out rather than a good pee. If I cover the pee hole, there is good back pressure bubbling back out of the intake grill.

I cleaned all the jackets and thermostat housing initally too ( the engine has never seen salt water) and fitted new impeller just the other day and a new slightly tapered damper seal, that fits half way over the cranked brass upper intake pipe (which ends with a 45 ° cut) so as to slot into the concave bell housing outlet hole that the intake pipe sits into ( but only just about) after you reattach the lower unit the the leg.

Noticed that some of the intake water is in part, being pumped and showing thru the gear rod hole on the lower unit as well. (at least the impeller is doing its job).

Is it a question of bending down the cranked intake pipe so it actually sits future into the plastic bell housing outlet and then the damper seal just takes care of minimal loss above?

Video added,
Any tricks, adaptation or tweek advice very welcome.
