I have a Sessa 36 fitted with Twin VP KAD 44's with Electronic Controls

Also I have two children - 2 & 3 Years old.....

Now the problem

The controls on the Sessa are low down and when the boat is stationery the children love playing with the levers.

My big concern is that they might play with them when the engines are running when I am leaving the berth!!

I can see myself being launched off the pontoon and crashing into the boats opposite.

Has anyone got any ideas

I have twin 44's and same problem and I always try to remeber to put a guard at helm seat to stop this eventuality. Now that Kids are older I put eldest in charge of guard duty. If you are alone with kids then it is a major problem and really for safety's sake you cannot leave the helm position with engines running.

Good planning before leaving berth so that final line is only time you need to leave helm, but returning to berth is also a problem. Strap them in? You can get those short straps which attach to life jackets.
