Amber was re-engined in 2002 by previous owner, who replaced 9hp JG Meakes marinised Kubota with Vetus M2.06 (16HP). As the engine space is a bit tight and anything I do with engines results in oil and grease finishing up every where other than where it's meant to be, I get the engine "done" professionally.

For several uninteresting reasons, the job has only just been done, but the report is that the rear mountings are shot, the bearers are cracked and the flexi coupling has been touching a cross member between the bearers.

My own experience of the muppets who did the installation is not good - wrong sized crush washhers on fuel banjos, vastly overpropped (14x10 2 blade folder that only gives 2/3 max rpm)etc. I'm concerned that the mounts have gone in less than 20 hrs use this season, so would be interested in comments. Also interested to know ideas of what size people think the engine bearers should be for such an engine...

Answers on a postcard please....
