I have no doubt this has been covered numerous times before, however I would like some pointing in the direction of threads or articles I should read before I begin to check and setup the alignment of the Volvos TAMD 74 engines and Z Drives in my Sea Ray 460 DA.

I have recently had the seals on both Shafts (Tides Dripless) replaced, and still they leak quite badly when underway, so I suspect that as the boat sat for 4 years without use, the engine mounts have dropped down a little.

Any guidence greatly appreciated.

I think you may have V drives which may be built in to the gearboxes or with free standing Vdrives
In the case of the former you will have to check the alignment under the engine which whilst more dificult to access is still the same procedure using a feeler gauge to check at 90* .
This should be described in Volvo installation guide if still available try your local Volvo dealer

The v drive rear mount is a real h d unit so I doubt it's dropped down as the shaft runs through the gearbox on a bush. If it drops you may also get oil leaks as it puts stress on the output shaft bearings .

I'd day the seals are not set to the correct setting to seal or the shafts are moving underway, are the cutlass bearings worn? Check mounts for tightness as the engines do move when put into gear .

The Vee Drives / Transmissions are all in one units.

I will try and find something from Volvo, that may be a reach though.

I believe the Cutlass bearings are all good with no play in them.

As VP suggests I will check the mounts for tightness, maybe they are moving when put into gear. The seals do not leak from one month to the next when the boat is not moved from its berth.

Any more guidance greatfully accepted, I am going down to the boat this week and would like to make some progress on this one.
