I’ve searched high and low for this but not found exactly what I’m looking for.

I would like to join double braid ropes in an end to end splice but with two ropes of different diameter.

Can anyone point me in the direction of a method for this? I’m sure I’ve heard of it being done, and I can see reference to different diameter end to end in uncovered dyneema, and dyneema to double braid but not what I want. 12mm double braid to 10mm double braid.

Any pointers very welcome. Cheers

You should be able to join 10 to 12mm easily enough. You can always taper the end of the 12mm a bit by removing a few strands prior to the part where it crosses the core. 12 mm outer will go inside a 10mm outer OK it only gets harder where it crosses the core
I would also add some stitching to the splice. Plus, make the ends a bit longer where they pass the core but taper them to avoid a fat rope.
