"My understanding is that the EU will remain a coupling of nation states. My Prime minister has said so!"

If that's the case, as usual the opposite will happen. Would the last one to leave the country please turn off the lights!

I'll stick with my (defaced) Red Ensign.
Consider how many organisations use a defaced Ensign. A defaced Union Flag would not create the same impact.
IMHO we should stick with the Red, White and Blue Ensigns and stuff the Eurocrats.
Next thing you know they will be telling us we can't use nail varnish to protect our electrickery bits from moisture.

Huh!

And there speaks a man who's had a Christmas tree flashing away for the last 3 months. And it's probably Norwegian!

Not at all Laddie - not at all...honest upright law abiding citizen - d'ye see if we all went doon that road, there'd be Dragons and Saltires and Harps and Rugby Shirts hangin' frae the back of boats - the Red Duster wid have been geography -
( should that no be history? Shut up an stop changing the subject) for some time and then we'd lose a whole national sporting past-time - Blue Duster Baiting.

Re: End of the Red Duster -no

and therein lies one of the problems a number (judging by the posts on this subject in another place) english persons find with the archaic laws surrounding British flags for marine use.

It would appera that it is perfectly legal for a Scot, Welshman, Cornishman etc to fly their "national" on their boat, yet for me, an Englishman, its not only illegal, but when its done - miles away from anywhere some kind of Admiral is ever likely to be, and in circumstances where the presence of said person, in command, is most unlikely - but it also gets hasle from a very well known personality about it being disrespectfull to his "organisation" - and his version is defaced.

Now I know I am likely to upset quiet a number of you over this, but I do not see why, in these times of devolution, that I should be forced to show aligance to a confederation of nations, one of which appears hell bent on destroying itself and, if given the chance, the rest of us.

I would welcome the end of being banned from flying my national flag, but of course the alledged proposal would not do that - perhaps those who suport the use of the red ensign would then be in the same boat (not intended) as me - being prevented from flying their national flag.
