Encapsulated keel

I am considering buying a Trident Warrior 38 with an encapsulated iron keel. When I tap the keel it sounds hollow along the full length just on one side. Anybody got any idea why?
Any suggestions or advice would be much appreciated.

Ours is encapsulated lead. When we bought the surveyor noticed one area sounded hollow (not the whole side tho) - we had to have it drilled to ensure that what billskip is suggesting had not happened. As it turned out it was merely a void created when the keel was built and so no problem. But a surveyor may well suggest investigation.

At a bit of a tangent...

I've heard that concrete keels are more susceptible to osmosis.
Anyone know whether there's any truth in this?
And if so, is it encapsulated keels in general, or specifically concrete?
