I am planning to be in Empuriabrava for 3 days next week. Does anyone know of a good hotel located near the marina as we have got some friends visiting with a young child who won't be sleeping on the boat.
Any other Empuriabrava tips welcome!

Was there in 2005 but stayed on our boat so no tips re Hotels I'm afraid.Loads of shops & restaurants there within walking distance of the Marina Office.

If you look to your left as you leave the Marina Office there is a row of cafes/resturants.The name of the one I suggest escapes me but its speciality is steak tartare prepared at the table. The patron puts on a very amusing floor show (if its still there?) which involves one or more of his unwitting customers. We enjoyed it anyway.Would have liked to stay longer but we were trying to make ground so pushed on after a couple of days.

As you probably know it blows up a bit in that part so you might not be able to take the boat out. A lovely alternative just 15 mins away (by car) are the Aiguamolls, which is a nature reserve where you can see nesting storks and all sorts of wild stuff

Sorry didn't reply before, but we only flew home from Empuriabrava yesterday!!!

Echo DavidJ's comments and also suggest you take a fan (or 5) as it was 37 out there for most of last week!!!!!

......even more reason to take a good well air conditioned hotel like Port Salins.
Nick what's the comment I read about your boat being for sale? /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif buying a bigger one? /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Unfortunatly Port Salins is full, but they booked into Portifino so fingers crossed.

Thanks for all the advice, we are currently on a mooring bouy at the Medas Islands, the only boat here, ready to tuck into our evening meal, and it's still hot!

Stunning!!!!!!
We moored in the same place last week on the way back up from Barcelona....can do it in 4 hours at 26 kts cruising speed, but we stayed over just because we could.....only boat on a buoy too, so we could run the generator and the aircon for a couple of hours to cool everything down!!!!

Gosh are you bringing back memories - and it was only a week ago!!!! /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif
