I am visiting Burnham Yacht Harbour. I'm shocked how many empty berths there are. I counted 20 just on E pontoon so must be 3 or 4 times that overall. No wonder Chattinglil got offered a good deal.

As far as I am told there is only one vacant in Bradwell. Other places look fairly full. Odd.

Bradwell. for a 27 footer like ours, £2227.50 per annum
Burnham for an 8.22m boat (e.g. ours!) £2507.10 per annum

Not a massive difference. Both locations have their pros and cons, if anything you'd think Burnham had a fair bit more going for it.

Burnham has facilities and shops and restaurants but The Blackwater is better for sailing despite tidal restriction IMO

Quite agree. If we were going to move up to a permanent marina berth I think I'd probably opt for Bradwell. Jane would probably vote for Burnham though!

Similar at Shotley, at least in the G-K pontoons,ie smaller <10m boats. A-F seems fullish, but many of them never move.

I made the same observation back in June, aimed at Burnham and Ipswich Haven... When I counted at BYH there were 60+ vacant berths on D/E pontoons. The downside is that you're likely to get a pontoon finger to yourself, and boy are they wobbly with nothing tied to the other side...

not that great a deal, but good in comparison with alternatives by the time I factored in winter storage and lift in and outs. And yes, i am looking forward to next year and hanging out with the Burnhamites. Let's see I get to use the thing!

Maybe some good Winter deals to be had?

Am intending staying in for the winter (having reantifouled with proper Jotun stuff at start of August), probably Orwell based as closer to home.

Other than replacing the standing rigging (required by insurers) there is nothing 'serious' to be done this winter as after last weekend I am on top of the varnishing (just 2 days Mr PoH!) although do want to look into getting some sort of SS structure on the transom to take take the Sea Feather. Oh and fit a chart plotter .... and......

Just waiting for Mother's house to be sold and the estate finalised so I have the money!
