Just got back from delivering Emjaytoo to Vlissingen. Had a bumpy crossing from Ipswich to Vlissingen - twenty-one and a half hours from slipping the moorings to cracking open the beers! Weather forecasts all a load of rubbish - motor'd the whole way with the wind upto 25 knots true, almost on the nose.

Great fun tho' and the objective achieved all according to plan.

Stage 2 - Vlissingen to Kortgene, follows in a week or so.

Seems the powers that be are having a few difficulties with the forecast these days , the most accurate one we got last Sunday morning from Guapa as we passed him and he shouted something about ' variable ' , summed it up nicely , they didn't have a clue what was going to happen

I'm reminded of a long, long time ago. We were about to leave Torquay for a trip back to the Solent. The 0535 was for wind F5-6 cyclonic. Both of us were left scratching our heads, so I called Brixham CG - which meant finding a red phone box and putting money in slot A - to ask if they could be more specific.

"Just heard the forecast, can you advise on what 'cyclonic' means?"

"Yup, means they haven't a bloody clue which way the wind is going to come from."

S'funny that - My first trip in FC was almost entirely spent doing engine durability testing across the North Sea, and at the same time of year too. Spooky.

Pleased that you made it across no problems. Oranjeboom.
