Garmin :

RX + Brown
TX + Blue
12v negative and NMEA ground = Black

Emtrak :
Port 1 38,400baud + Brown to Garmin Brown
Port 1 38,400baud - Blue to Garmin Black

Or

Port 2 4,800baud + Purple to Garmin Brown
Port 2 4,800baud - Pink to Garmin Black

Take your pick of ports, but make sure the plotter is set to the same baud rate.

Update.. done as suggested.. all good
Had to connect emtrak to Garmin with high speed ( low speed no overlay). Then vhf lost its GPS ( fed from garmin originally low speed)
So now old plotter feeds gps on vhf low rate
Ais feeds new chart plotter high rate

All seems fine, am I OK to leave like this ,or am I asking for future problems

Thank ( confirmed baud rate numpty)

Fine to leave it like it is. Should have said in post #2 you needed to use the high speed port, senior moment o_O

You could also use port 2 on the em-trak for the VHF GPS, if you enable GPS out in the em-trak software. But, i'ts OK to leave as is if you prefer.

Just a question about post#5 . The Emtrak can be set to output both high speed to plotter and low speed to vhf simultaneously, thus saving me power having to use two plotters. ??
My apologies, I did say I am a nmea numpty.
Thanks

Yes, will output both simultaneously. Just make sure the em-trak is set to send GPS, it's in proAIS.
