Em-Track B100 AIS won't transmit but will receive...

Bizarre !!!

I've just returned from the Jester Baltimore, discovering on leaving Pwllheli, my emtrack 924 was transmitting, however not receiving. My wife could follow me on marine traffic, all ther Jesters say they could follow me , not a peep of any ais information on my hard wired plotter or wi fi connected tablet. Also the emtrak ais app shows all boxes checked apart from signal received. Still under warranty so I need to confirm its not antenna related first . Gonna try a dedicated ais antenna, any recommendations.

Sorry for thread hijack ,
Normally if you are transmitting OK then receiving a transmission should be fine.

If it's transmitting OK it isn't likely to be the antenna. Contact Emtrak support.

Yes I've contacted Emtrack. It was awkward due to no signal in various areas of sailing. Very helpful just need to confirm make of antenna before they will issue a return ticket. Antenna is original when I bought boat 4 years ago ,so not sure of make hence the reason for trying a dedicated ais whip first.
It has worked fine on install picking up boats in marina and the ferry in and out of Heysham.

I wouldn't waste money on a dedicated AIS amtenna, the Emtrack doesn't need it. Just tell them it's a Shakespeare, i can't see what difference the manufacturer makes.

Hi Paul
It is a Shakespeare V Tronic Whipflex (found some old invoices) . Apparently the buff on it says great for AIS . So will have to see what Emtrack response is , so far very quick at responding.

Cheers
Paul

A quick update on my thread hijack....
Received my repaired under warranty 924 ( internal module faulty/ internal module replaced ) , pointless me asking for more information, it would just go over my head . Plugged back in yesterday and bingo instantly on a collision course for thr Heysham/ IOM ferry so all working perfectly. All correspondence with Emtrack excellent. I did however have to pay initial return postage, so minus points for that and the fact I had a very lonely Jester Baltimore challenge not knowing where anyone was....though they could all see me

In case anyone cares.....I forgot to add my final update as well. Sent AIS unit unit back to Em-Track. It was an internal module failure. They replaced it and sent it back (wasn't under warranty but they made an exception for goodwill and the extensive time and money I had spent on trouble shooting the problem).
My experience with them was first class as well. Unit came back and works perfectly.
