So SWMBO and i did the boat show thing yesterday morning and star of the show for me... the Elling E4...

I have liked the look of the E3 for sometime but never actually seen one in the flesh.

walked past it and had to stop in for a look!

lovely upstairs layout with sliding roof, buckets of room downstairs, massive aft cabin. really nicely laid out...

only downside was too much high gloss cherry wood but thats personal preference...

Single D6 435 pushes it at 18 kts and cruise at 15.

Uk agents were very helpful and happy to talk knowing full well we were not going to sign the order form!

We were in Cowes recently and an Elling E3 came in on the other side of the pontoon. Had a long chat with the owner who was very happy with her. I've seen Elling at a previous show and did get in touch with the company prior to buying the P50.

My memories were very positive and I look forward to seeing the E4.

For me that's what Southampton is all about, looking at stuff that's slightly off the beaten path both geographically and from what you normally use. Looking longer term many of us have plans for more extended cruising so I guess it's doing a bit of groundwork for that as well as re-assuring ourselves that our current boats are indeed the right choice.

Henry :)

We looked at the E3 last year and were very taken with it. Very practical and we too think it would make a great retirement boat :)

They had some details on the E6 which looked stunning!!

Should i be worried about thinking of a retirement boat at 34?

There are a few about and if i recall someone on here had one for a while (Rickp maybe?)

I also had a good mooch around the E4 and a long chat with its actual owner, who was very proud of her, and justifiably so. Fabulous boat - definitely one for retirement. Those month long cruises would be a delight on that boat. Not silly money either.
