Yep, her third homecoming is at Cowes this Friday.
""<<B&Q>> skipper Ellen MacArthur will be returning to Cowes on the Isle of Wight on Friday, February 25 to a homecoming organised by the Isle of Wight council.""
My old man who is completely non boaty said that he thinks she is in danger of over doing it on the publicity thing and people will begin to get bored or fed up with it, he knows full well what she has done as I have been telling him all the time during and after her attempt, he was impressed with her record and the Falmouth return on TV but since then has become very cynical as the BBC have gone from virtually zero sailing coverage to blanket Ellen news, what about all the other great sailing stories like Mike Goldings heroic finish of the Vendee Globe?
I started to cringe last Sunday when Richard Simmonds the BBC Sailing Presenter was trying to make the crowd at Greenwich whoop and cheer at every possible moment like some sort of American political conference or sporting event. What does everyone think? I personally think the RYA or BMF should get on to the BBC like last week and start to promote the sport whilst we are on a high, especially after last summers medal haul in Athens.
Cheers
Stephen
PS Been down with the Flu so I have had time to write something for once, hope everyone is ok in the cold weather.
