Suddenly the civil service and anything similar (teachers, NHS, Church of England employees, Services etc) pensions are being tinkered with to make them more "flexible", meaning cheaper and smaller.

I'm pretty sure its a pre election ploy -Gordon has employed 260,000 NEW civil servants this year alone, the latest inflation and wage figures show that public sector pay is racing ahead of inflation and every body else (5% rise this year for public sector vs 4% for private and 2.9% for manufacturing, and since 2000 the public sector average pay has risen 25% against 16% for private sector and 12% for manufacturing), and every single one of these people has a copper bottomed final salary pension scheme.
I'm not quite sure why me and the rest of the country should be continually expected to pay enourmous tax increases to fund this pay and pension bonanza, whilst being simultaneously bollocked by the same chancellor for not providing our own pension and savings provisions. I'll tell you why the private sector employees have no pension provision Gordon, its because we're paying for yours!
Expect to see business as usual and more benefits for the boys after Gordon gets back in again.

Do you really believe that hospitals are better run and safer than they were 20 years ago ? You've either not been in an NHS one lately or else you are extremely lucky in your local area.
