Nail on head

I think that pretty much explains any negativity whatsoever from me. I'm almost hoping that England get thrashed in the six nations, cos we can definitely pin that one on him...

Whatever it takes - 4 more years of Tone despite his mistakes is far preferable for me to the spectre of 4 years of wotsisname from that clapped out wotchamacallit party.

Hmm. I don't really give a flying **** about Tony and his selfish ways, or the politics of either pary - its the economics which concern me.
The spectre of 4 more years of Gordon running the country into the ground, fleecing even more tax out of me and then wasting it all in a hopeless effort to make the public sector perform is what worries me.
Gordon is already about 20 bilion in the hole on this years budget, and thats the GOOD pre-election bribing budget.
For a clue of what he's got planned there are some interesting bomb shells buried in the budget, and in the report on all the housing expansion. f'rexample how about a 30% increase in stamp duty reciepts? an annual tax on land value, a massive increase in council tax for anyone in the south east. A huge amount of stealth tax increases have already been signalled. Although they are not technically a tax, pub license fees going up from 30 quid to 4000 quid? Speeding fines generating massive revenue - and being increased.
Personally I just want a chancellor to not raise tax so much, so that just for one year my annual cost of living pay rise actually results in a rise in my take home pay!

I'd rather have Brown than the silly man that Howard puts up, although Vince Cable seems surprisingly credible.

Who else could have tackled that last bastion of skilled but pompous self-righteousness - doctors and nurses - and got them to work with their managers to deliver services faster, and often better? The statistics lie a little bit but there's a lot of truth in the way they show real improvements.

Wish they'd gone into the Euro, and avoided Iraq though.

Can we keep politics off the forum

Can we keep politics off the forum as it gets me far to wound up seeing so many people who seem to believe the bo****ks the current government chuck out. I have no problem with them choosing to support the principles of New Labour, if that is their want, but do we really have to put up with a government that makes Lloyd George look honest. The corruption, spin and cronyism in place at the moment is even worse than anything Europe can put up!

My money is on Gordon Brown becoming Foreign Secretary ( in training for the "big job"). Predict Alan Johnston for Chancellor.

All this assumes tone gets back of course....is that in doubt?

and that's not a political opinion?

It's nice for the rest of us to see that not everyone is a knee-jerk EU hating, tax-shirking, stand-on-my-own-two-feet-and-damn-the-rest-of-you cynical type.

God help us all if we get more of the present bunch of incompetents. Illegal immigrants up, violent crime up, hospital waiting lists, viruses caught in hospital and hospital administrators up at the expense of front line staff, civil servants grossly up (that's what keeps unemployment down). Council Tax excessively up through fiddles in the funding to favoured party supporting councils! Tax on Income up through increased National Insurance despite the promise (broken like many others) that "WE will not increase income tax" (That was a cunning fiddle). Over 50 other tax rates increased by stealth. MPs & Ministers undeserved salaries and benefits grossly up. Who pays for this incompetence, we all do, except for the MPs & ministers who have made sure that they are OK.

They lie, spin and deceive (Weapons of Mass Destruction) yet people still give them support?

Think again, its certainly time for an overdue change and, whether one likes them or not, the present official Opposition are the only realistic alternative available.Any vote for the wimpish Third party or any of the other minorities is a just an utterly wasted vote and weakens opposition.

I don't agree. Feel good factors from poorly-understood minority sports don't last long. Ben Ainslie's Silver and Shirley Robertson's Bronze in 1996 couldn't save John Major in 1997. The media frenzy will be just about over by the time next Sunday's colour supplements have been put to good use wrapping chips. By this time next month Ellen will be able to shop in Tesco's again without someone saying "I recognise you. You're the weather girl from Radio Chipping Sodbury"!

Re: Since you don\'t like TB Liar & wotsisname

Sad part is, it seems the LibDems are the only ones in touch with "sensible" voters in this Country i.e not Sun readers. Problem is though, a vote for them guarantees B.Liar gets back in.
