During lockdown I have fixed lots of stuff on the boat (the boat is at the back of house so no issues getting to it)
Fixed autopilot leak found and fixed and a new pump.
new motor for windlass
New horn (air useful on thursdays)
New toilet (upgrade demanded by wife) electric
service genrator

now time for electronics

i have ordered a new raymarine i50 to replace st60(depth for fly bridge)

ok now the question I am after a fish finder and wandring what I should go for?

i tend to use my ipad as a chart plotter so not sure if to move away and get a combined gps fishfinder unit or? what do I choose

ideas?

thanks in advance

Do you want a fish finder for fishing or simply to use as a depth sounder? We use a small Garmin chartplotter/fishfi on our dive boat which does the job, on Eos I have a Raymarine E120 and E80 with the fish finder box added, it’s excellent, can’t beat a big screen. On another smaller boat I’ve got a Raymarine lighthouse display, again a combined chartplotter/fish finder which also works well.
So I guess my conclusion is,unless doing a lot of serious fishing, which I don’t, I’d always go for the combined units.

I have been useless at fishing but would love a big dispaly. I suppose that would come at a cost?

I wish there was a boat show I could talk to someone about my requirements...?

Hi a Lowrance hook reveal 9 is a combined satnav/fishfinder. It has a good quality 9" screen and a built in GPS antenna at £522 (marine superstore) I thought it was a good buy. I have a hook 7 on my little 16' Orkney and I think it's brilliant.
