i have a waeco transformer to power the fridge on board.it is one of the older designs with four terminals (in addition to the mains lead.) they are marked eingang beibatterie (presumably incoming battery) and ausgang verbraucher (? output to appliance). the outgoing has 12 v and powers the fridge fine but i am intrigued what the incoming terminals are for. any suggestions?

I think it may be like the one I have in the attic, only mine is a UK make.

The unit is an automatic change-over from mains transformer to 12v battery input, with 12v output to whatever you want to go to - in your case the fridge.

It means that you can run the fridge through this unit from 12vdc, and when you plug into shoreside mains, it will then automatically feed the fridge from 240vac. No need to have 2 supplies to the fridge. This unit will do both jobs.
