Electronics Placement

I was wondering where some of you mount your electronics, such as depth sounder, so that you can see it when your underway, but yet it isn't in the way. I have a Mac 26x and was thinking of making a plexiglass box to mount to the steering console, but wanted some other ideas first.

I've made a bridge to go above the cabin access. I had to make it myself as there appears to me nothing on the market to fit. All hatchways are different.

Unless someone is standing IN the cabin access, they can be seen at anytime - especially when you have to get in out of the weather. Assuming you are under autohelm.
