There was a thread recently on electronic barometers which I cannot find. Fired by this, I have been looking for one. I have just bought one on ebay for $77 plus $9 postage. It is a Weems and Plath and is an excellent bit of kit and good value, especially with the current exchange rate. I understand from the seller that he has several more.

Just a heads up in case anyone else needs one.

Over Christmas I found (in Dixons (Chichester) of all places) a "Science Museum" badged weather station product. This gives barometric pressure with history covering the previous 12 hours (not 24 unfortuneately) + temperature, humidity, time, date. The barograph is a 6 column histogram giving current, H - 1, H - 2, H - 3, H - 6 and H - 12. Not a large display. Pre-Christmas it was about £30. In the sales it was about £15. Not sure if they have any left. Looks like they were wanting to get rid of them.

mailspeeed catalogue has several different ones with pressure history from 12 hrs up to 72 hrs, and features in accordance with the price.

Nauticalia also has some.<P ID="edit"><FONT SIZE=-1>Edited by Talbot on 13/01/2004 15:17 (server time).</FONT></P>

i recently won a watch containing a 'semiconductor barometer' from those very nice people at YM. it seems to be the biz and has the choice of reading as pressure at sea level or as altitude (perhaps a little strange for a product sold for yachting).

i can't yet speak for its accuracy but it is certainly convenient.

pity they couldn't combine it with a tide function, i have a watch to do that too but feel a bit of a prat wearing both.

I found the following product to be the absolute best: http://www.winboy.ch/D/M_Titel.htm

It was initially developed as a recording altimeter for gliders. True, it is horrenduously expensive compared with the cheapish "watch barometers", but it is a real professional piece of gear. Have it on my boat and when not sailing, on my desk.

Cheers, JP

This looks very good, thanks for the link. I have a recording barograph at home but wanted something more robust for the boat, looks like I've found the answer.
