Electrically challenged plus naked enthusiasm

A bit late to this perhaps, but I think that the 3 way switch in your AC circuit diagram should be double pole, that is switch both line and neutral.

I hadn't looked at those schematics, been a bit busy here.

You are absolutely correct, the negative must be switched too.

Also, the battery charger should not be used with the inverter on. A three pole switch could be used to prevent that.

I'd also question having the calorifier on with the inverter. The OP has a lot of solar power, so might get away with it, careful monitoring would be advisable.

Thanks for the heads up guys. Still dithering with the inverter as i really want a bigger charger too. Maybe the ebay fairy will come to my rescue. Really good of you to check the drawings thanks again

If you're thinking of a charger upgrade, consider one of the Victron combined charger/inverters. Not cheap, but very nice. Plug the shore power in it is a battery charger, but if you try to cane the incoming shore supply it will top it up be becoming an inverter. Pull the plug on the sore power and it automatically switches over to being an inverter. You can have two x 240v outputs from the inverter, to two consumer units, so things like the battery charger or water heating only work from shore power. Features vary from model to model, so double check the specs.

Sounds like the dogs balls Paul and it’s what I’m hoping for. You recommended one before. I researched and now i just need to sell a kidney or summat to buy one ?
