Hi All,

Hoping for some starting point suggestions for a new electrical issue I spotted on our Dufour 32 Classic today. Popped down to the boat and was concerned to hear an electrical buzzing noise coming from the AC panel in the galley. Shore power is working on the plug outlet but battery charging and water heating (same panel) are not. Didn’t have time to investigate further so not much more to say, but wondering if anybody has any go-to ideas or experiences of similar. It’s definitely on the AC side and definitely wasn’t causing an issue a few days ago!

Any ideas?

Possibly a loose fuse or connection, or else a loose transformer lamination vibrating.

Hi Elton,

Thanks for this. I returned to the boat yesterday evening to investigate further. Unfortunately it is the RCD which is at fault. The unit is a French manufactured Back EG 30 E 31 which now appears to be out of production. Does anybody have any good recommendations on a replacement as our local marine electrician is suggesting replacing with a domestic unit. Unfortunately this won't fit into the switch panel so the problem might be more than a simple RCD replacement?

Worthwhile looking at RS Components for industrial style RCDs as a panel or din mounted one might be worthwhile considering as a replacement if a domestic style will not fit.
