I am getting “ electrical interference “ on my VHF transmission when I have the engine running . I assume that it must be from the alternator as she’s a diesel . How do I suppress this, on the power line to the VHF, on the alternator or both and with what?

Its been there since I changed my alternator and has been on my "to do" list for some time. Its a long list :)

Thx

Oh, don't get me started with VHF interference! I've been trying to sort out the various gremlins in my electrics for the last few months. Every time I fix one source, another crops up!
Blasted VHF!

Alternators generate AC which is rectified to DC. It may be that some AC is getting through. The VHF radio may be sensitive to anything other than a pure DC supply.

However I may be completely wrong.
