Our new to us boat has a bowthruster but no windlass

The 3Kw bowthruster has a heavy duty Bus Bar installed in the forward Cabin fed from the main battery’s

If I install an electric windlass (1000w) Given that it would be unlikely that both the bowthruster and Windlass would be operating together is it acceptable practice to use the same supply for both ?

I don’t really want to have to pull through a second large cable

Any advise would be apreciated

Yes, perfectly acceptly. You may wish to fit a lower rating of fuse/ circuit breaker between the busbar and winch relay- the windlass instructions will state the rating.

As per post #2, it's perfectly OK. You won't need quite as heavy cabling for the windlass and a thermal, re-settable circuit breaker should be fitted.

That is exactly how my bow thruster and windlass are wired

I wired my windlass in using this method. As the windlass wiring was a lot smaller it has it's circuit breaker as soon as possibly after the bowthruster.
