I posted a general query regarding electric winches a while ago.

Having done some research I quite like the look of winches manufactured by Anderson. These are slightly different to the norm in that the whole wich including the motor is monted outside, thus saving space and ugliness below.

Does anyone have any experience with these winches? I have to say they are not cheap, and it would be nice to have some feedback from users before plunging ahead!

They look very good quality, and are made without the abrasive rope gripping finish on the drum used by other makes. It looks as if they have hit on a very clever way of gripping the rope. The drum has smooth vertical ribs and a very slight taper, wider at the top, so that as the coils of rope move up the drum, they are tightened round it.
Some makers of very good quality boats (like Sweden Yachts) fit them, which is a pretty good recommendation.

Good research.
You have homed in on the best available
I have had Gibbs and Lewmars and Harkens and Andersons
Andersons win hands down
The point above about Sweden yachts is well made.
