Hi everybody, I am new to this forum.
I had a problem with my Volvo Penta D6-435I-F engine last Saturday. We stayed overnight in a quiet bay. The next morning when we wanted to leave, we found the boat did not go forward in the forward gear. The RPM would increase. But the green light on the control showed "N". When going backward, the gear worked fine and the boat went backward. We were lucky because the boat has a get home engine. Though the speed was only 4knots, we managed to get back to the marina after 5 hours. What problem can this be? My boat was made in 2017. Could anybody teach me how I can resolve this problem? I am located in Hong Kong. The Volvo dealers here are robber. When I did the 250 hr maintenance, I was quoted USD5030. So if I can do the repair myself, I do not want to rely on these robbers.

I had a similar problem to this, as you can see from reading the above postings.
I’m not sure if your engine control set up is the same as mine, but if it is, then in the manual for the engine there is a “Emergency Shifting ‘ procedure. I would try this first to see if that fixes the problem. If it does fixes the problem, it just maybe the shift cable needed adjusting. Manuals are on line if you don’t have one
