The Bosch PSE 180 http://www.amazon.co.uk/Bosch-PSE-180-Electric-Scraper/dp/tech-data/B0000C6Y67/ref=de_a_smtd is no longer available but you can still get blades for it including carbide tipped I believe.
The new Bosch PMF 180 http://www.amazon.co.uk/Bosch-PMF-1...ef=sr_1_1?s=diy&ie=UTF8&qid=1328872729&sr=1-1 doesn't seem suitable for this job.
Aldi and Lidl have not offered their Bosch copies in at least a year so I guess unlikely to appear again.

I've found 3 alternatives:
Andrew James, £35-ish, http://www.amazon.co.uk/Andrew-Jame...ef=sr_1_2?s=diy&ie=UTF8&qid=1328872821&sr=1-2
Skil, £70-ish, http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BOSCH-SKI...erTools_SM&hash=item5ae4c54f1b#ht_2123wt_1139 made (or badged) by a Bosch subsidiary in the US
GMC, £35-ish, http://www.amazon.co.uk/GMC-DEC008SC-EU-200-Paint-Scraper/dp/B003L21F7Q
All of these 3 say they can supply spare blades but not carbide tipped and can't/won't say if the Bosch blades will fit.

Does anyone have good or bad experience of any of these and know if the Bosch blades will fit please? Do you find you need carbide tipped or do ordinary blades stand up to it?
Thanks

I used a Bosch power scraper for removing many years build up of antifoul. Not sure of the model no., cost around £70 2-3 years ago. Definitely needs (several) tungsten blades and you need to grind the sharp corners off to avoid digging in. Still needed to finish off with Scarsten scraper and sander.

Recently bought a second hand Bosch PSE180 for this very job. It proved to be a great disappointment. It just polished the surface of the antifoul, without removing any. Ended up using a tungsten carbide hand scraper.

I have heard these scrapers a very good for removing tile adhesive - maybe not designed with antifoul in mind.

Lidl have just had their multi tool promotion in some stores, may be worth checking their web site to see if it is coming to a store near you.

I tried a friends electronic scraper that he uses for the antifoul but didnt find it that brilliant, so ended up with a linbide scraper that worked a treat although you need to blunt the edges and be carefull.

Maybe your antifoul wasn't thick or dry enough. In our case it was around 3mm thick, very dry and flaky so the Bosch worked a treat on most areas. The only problem was where it was thin and there wasn't an edge to attack.

No that's the rotary multi-tool sort, like the new Bosch PMF, and doesn't work for this job. It needs the dedicated scraper that moves linearly. Thanks anyway.

Did you have a decent blade in the Bosch? I believe it's critical and really needs the carbide tipped one.

PS You could PM me if it's for sale! Presumably cheap if it's no good :))

Completely different from my experience. I use the sprung steel blade - bit like a palette knife. I kept the 'edge' square so that the vibrating action pushed the paint until it flaked.
