Electric propulsion/regeneration

I wonder if anyone has come across such a thing.

Has anyone come across an electric boat propulsion unit that could be used to regenerate electricity when under sail?

Yes but for real efficiency you would need a variable pitch prop. This is because the slip of a prop on propulsion requires a fine pitch while the slip on generation requires a course pitch. This is the only way to extract all the power from the slipstream. Not to be confused with prop shaft generators which extract only a little power. You would also need a motor that could work as a generator at low speeds again due to slip. good luck olewill

Fischer Panda do a diesel electric system, as do Salomon technologies. The latter is now offered as standard on Lagoon 420 catamarans. Both use regeneration, I think.
