Hi all
I have a 2009 diesel antares 6 with electrical probs
the problem is when the boat has been running for about an hour the 70 amp trip by the battery switches trips and onboard electrics go out , bit of a panic first time it happened as the gps went out !!
I suspect the fridge but why if there is a fault doesnt it knock the circuit out straight away ?
Bit reluctant to buy a new fridge till i know this is definately the problem ,where should I start looking
I, m a bit lost when it comes to electrics so any sugestions greatfully recieved

I would try a new Circuit breaker of the same rating, especially if in a hot area. If circuit breakers trip a few times they weaken and can trip at a lower than required setting. It could simply be getting too warm and reaches its trip threshold after the hour. If the problem continues after a new circuit breaker is fitted then you will need to search further, but I would be surprised if the fridge is the culprit.

Also worthwhile assessing what things are on when the trip occurs. Bear in mind an Eberspacher and a Radar between them will use a fair chunk of those 70 amps, along with a hydraulic steering pump perhaps. The fridge cutting in with other substantial loads present could be flipping the trip level.

Thanks for that suggestion superheat I will fit a new breaker and give that a try .

Not that yours will be a breaker, but I had exactly the same issue at home on the protected side. It would just trip out at random and after about 6 months of blaming different kit and appliances, I changed the breaker and never had another problem. Hope you sort it.
