Only a few months old, but I've probably voided the warranty by cutting off the crocodile clip battery connectors and substituting better, more robust jobs, so I thought I might as well open it up when it just stopped working.

I suppose the sequence of events here is that the brush on the right was shoved in with the lead unlaid a bit, breaking a few strands as it went. Arcing (?) across the breaks then set the hot wire into the plastic carrier and also bent it so that the brush was trapped and no longer making contact.
I'll see what the supplier has to say about a new carrier plate and brushes before divulging the make, in the meantime I've ordered a better one (my wife , you will realize, is a genuine saint)

If she were a real saint, she would insist on a 2T Tohatsu 3.3hp
