We need to replace one of the on board toilets and are considering going electric. We'll stick with Lavac because:
a) We like them
b) All the plumbing is new so no need to replace.
We're wondering if anyone has experience of the electric version and whether it's worth the extra cash. I assume that there is still a manual pump and the electric works in series with it?
Any info welcome.

I have a Lavac that has a jabsco diaphragm pump

But I fitted mine in parallel as I found that the outlet valve ( tri lobe) on the manual pump could be stuck closed due to the suction or the electric as mine was fitted on the outlet of the manual pump. I could not fit so the pump was between the head and the manual pump.

I also have the Whale type

Which I think is better as it has double non return valves so a less likely to jam open thus stopping pumping.

Depends how you choose to do it. You can have the two pumps in series, or parallel, or just the electric pump.

I recently priced on for a customer and found it better value to buy a manual toilet and add a Jabsco electric pump. Frinstance https://www.marinesuperstore.com/toilets/toilets/blakes-lavac-toilet (better prices may be available).
