Electric Compact Horns - Power conundrum

Morning all, a question for the Electric "Gurus".

Went to fit replacement horns yesterday. 2 horns, together in one unit but with separate wiring (Pos & Neg ) for each horn. Boat Power supply to horns is just 2 wires, Pos and Neg. Thought simply join the two horn Pos wires together and the two horn Neg wires together and then join to the source supply. Nothing!! When connecting each individual horn to the source supply, each horn works normally, but together they will not. Any thoughts please?

Try running a direct supply from the battery to both horns, if they work then it could that the original cable is not up to the power draw, or the button.

I'd suspect the wiring.

Connecting a multimeter set to a DC range to the two wires and observing the voltage when you hit the switch in both the single and dual horn cases would be interesting.

Hopefully they supply a relay for you to fit so your button will not burn out because of the large amperage required to make your horns work

No, they did not... In theory its a like for like replacement, but obviously something going on somewhere, maybe they never worked!!
