We have a Kenyon electric BBQ in the boat at present.

Sadly this is next to useless. If you pre heat it for 15 mins or so AND it is a totally wind free day it will cook OK.

Any hint of wind and stuff simply does not cook. The clue is that nearly all their models come with a lid - and this one is only 1300 w and just does not have the grunt to cook.

It looks nice, but sadly it has to go.

Does anyone have any recommendations of BBQs they have that work well please?

I have never been much of a fan of BBQs on boats. Always felt that spitting fat and teak decks didn't go together! Having said that, the Smeg one fitted to our last Sealine worked pretty well. Used to cover the teak with an old sheet. B.....r to clean as well.

long ago someone posted about a "Princess" electric table top grill plate,
(Scubaman iirc)
he was very happy with it I believe,

I 've got a present from friends ,
a electric tepan yaki grill plate, (make = hendi)
this is nice aswell,
but storing that long thing (its 1m long) for the occasional usage is a bit of a uncumbrance

both are no real BBQ, but I prefer a grill "plate" instead of a open grill.

I have a Japanese electric BBQ on the boat , it is next to useless in anything other than a force zero.

Decent gas portable or cook in oven.

Thx for the suggestions so far. Last boat targa 40 had a glass type hot plate that was brilliant. Long discontinuEd. Gas tempting. The ex Sealine one looks good as it is 2300 w. It is a game of power !

We have a George Forman grill about £20. All the fat runs off into a drip tray with no chance of a fire.I know it's cheating but who cares when every thing is cooked to perfection.Cleaning is easy just a wipe over with Kitchen paper whilst still warm.We use it in the cockpit in any weather.minimal messing about simples

Thanks. The Smeg one has a bit more power (1800w) and is not that expensive.

We are looking for built in ( it is part of the flybridge bar unit).
How about an induction hob.. you can use it for anything then (use a cast iron griddle?)
