At Firmhelm (Pwllheli) is an Elan Power 35 as featured a couple of months ago in MBM. I must say that it looks fab and every bit as good as made out in the test. Its the big windscreen thing and foredeck that does it for me.

I think it is up there with the C39 in the Ugly ratings.

Cracking boat, had a look round it yesterday. Go take a look at the Botnia Targas too, still ugly as sin, but wonderful boats, full of all sorts of clever detail.

Was in a Botnia Targa 31 the other day out in the ruff stuff. They are exceptionally good boats.

They've got a plug cut out of the hull of the 25 on display there.. It must be about 3cm or more thick!

The only thing that put me off is that the design of the boat with such a small cabin perched on top, is the lack of space inside compared to comparable sized boats. In terms of getting you home when the going gets rough though, they'd take some beating for boats that will still do over 40knts.

We were already looking at the Targa when Brendan came along. It is a super boat and we quite liked the layout, even though this was as quirky as the outside appearance.

We had just come from the Jeaneau stand where we looked at an 805. My wife was particularly taken although when I mentioned the MBM article to the salesman he said WHO? So you are clearly not as famous over here as in the CI.

Saw it on Monday at SIBS - fantastic! Only thing that compares (IMHO) is the Windy but its way more expensive. Anyone had a sea trial yet?

I agree, a fantastic looking boat, but from £160K ... then add another £8k just for the roof... all a tad expensive, especially considering there is no 'power heritage' with Elan to speak of (thinking re-sale here)

Loved the cockpit, but at 5'8" when I stood at the helm my view was totally blocked by the top of the windscreen... couldn't see below or above it. Also, do you really need two sinks in the cockpit ?

Thought the cabin's were a bit poky ... 3-4 max round the table and no effective standing room in the rear cabin.

All in all I'm happy with my Sealine S34 in terms of space and comfort, even if it's not as hot in terms of power and looks.

Saw it at the boat show on Wed. Didn't like it much especially the visability, couldn't see much sitting down and when standing up looked straight at the very thick windscreen edging. And although it's advertised for around £160k, the one at the show is £180+k. not sure what extras it's got but it needs to be a lot for 20k.

Yes, lack of heritage/history is a problem, so is the long waiting list.

At 6'3" helm was great for me but not for the wife. Think the idea with the sinks is you have a food prep area one side and a dirty dishes area the other?

As a Sealine owner myself I always admire their "more boat for the money" qualities. However step aboard a Windy, open and close a few doors/drawers etc and you can't help noticing the build quality. On first impressions/gut feel I thought the Elan came close to the Windy for build quality.

£160K->£200K is still dreaming for me though /forums/images/icons/frown.gif

Agreed - although I own an older Windy, a new one one of equal or greater size (along with the Elan) is out of my range. If I move up, Sealine is high on my list.

Im about to place an order for a new S34. Spec'ed right up with D4 260hp engines Im looking at £161k. I've got the usual dilemma, new '05 Sealine or '03/'04 Targa 34 for the same money.

I expect the Sealine will shift with the new D4s.

yea, at £189k, it didnt look that fantastic. One of the amazings things for me at the boatshows is walking on a boat and it is faultless. I mean nothing seems wrong. Windy do it for me every time. cant help thinking it must be worth every penny, and i love the lack of compromise. khamsin is (£160k?) dayboat ; no peeing about pretending to squeeze in something more. And they all look so purposeful. The Elan? yea looked ok, and there were some things they got more right than even boats at twice the price , but still seemed to be accomodating too many demands.
