Below is an extract from e-mails just received from one of the agents in Egypt, Capt. Heebi, Prince of the Red Sea. I have not changed any of the wording or corrected the grammar. From what is being done I think we have a real game changer for anyone wanting to travel south from the Mediterranean to the Red Sea and beyond. According to Capt. Heebi these fees are not applicable to boats traveling North. But personally, I think it will only be a matter of time.

"Port said higher the price for the port clearnce from 40$ to 675$ for any sailing yacht transit south bound.

I have one boat now arrive to portfouad marina wish to transit south but the port authorities asking for the new rules 88 2018.
Which is but the new fees of 675 $ as port clearnce fees.

Port said is the only way to go to suez canal. South bound.

That fees is already higher by the government in hurghada sharm el shirk
Port said.

The 652 $ is only the port clearnce
For example

Yesterday that boat if he allowed for the transit he have to pay

Suez canal dues 400$
Port clearnce. 652$

Total 1052$ for yacht 13 meter without the agent fees

That is why he go back ashkelon. I go my self and capt to the port authorities in port said.

After the military intelgent know the problem.

But at the end the ruselt, zero zero nothing happened.

Suez canal office in port said ask the yacht to be ready in 15 minute to go out by pilot. In 30 kts of wind speed and dark.

I ask permetion to go back to med sea in first light.

The answer was no. And no.

That coast for all forighn flag yachts from 1meter to 18 meter fees 652$

Over 18 meter 850$.

Capt heebi"
