Nice article in July issue of MBY on Eddie Jordan's new boat.
I won't spoil it for anyone not having read it!
But had to let out a little gasp on the fuel consumption! 900 Lph at 19.5. Knots!
Dont you just love your own boats fuel consumption now? :encouragement:

There you go and I wasn't going to spoil it for anyone!

You've pulled the upper fuel burn figure there. I have to say I was astonished how little fuel the boat used at slower speeds. The figures were so good I had to read them a couple of times to make sure it wasn't per engine or something. Quite amazing. This is I think down to the lighter weight of composite builds (compared with steel hulls/alloy superstructures) plus it must be a pretty good hull design

Good luck to Eddie Jordan, a man who almost became a priest and then a dentist, many young F1 drivers owe their early breaks to this man,

Good luck to him

The fuel flow to the Olympus Engines on the Type 42 Destroyers and Type 21/22 Frigates was measured in tonnes per hour with a tonne being ~ 1,100 litres. From a fairly distant memory was around 15 t/hr at full speed, which I suppose for 4,000 tons displacement at 33 knots wasn't too bad.

The throttles were remarkably similar to those on any flybridge cruiser, the problem being that too may Officers of the Watch thought that it was a speed boat they were driving !
