Has anyone used this ?

It seems well designed for boats and can , they say, run 24/7 and vents moist air overboard rather than water to drain . Can be bulkhead or under deck mounted ...

But, it's £550 and for that I want to know it's good. I have seen an article in one of the Yacht mags that praises it but other than one 9 year old discussion on here I can find no one with real boats who have used it. As I have a 50 foot cat , air flow around the boat is difficult and I hope to find someone who has fitted one to a larger boat and has feedback on if it keeps the whole thing dry

Where is your boat berthed? Their boat dehumidifiers all seem to be desiccant models, which are more suitable for lower temperatures. Desiccant dehumidifiers are less energy efficient than compression models at most temperatures.

Their stainless steel housings do rather look the part, and I do rather like the idea of having a built in unit rather than having to lug around a household model - I don't see why they wouldn't work as well as a Meaco DD8L, but they're 3x the price!

EDIT: I see they claim "[this 8 litre descant dehumidifier is] Equivalent to a 16 Litre Compressor Dehumidifier @18°C" - that is not what I would have expected. See this article on Meaco's website.

They were rated as superb by one of the mags but I want to hear real world experience - and if no one here has any then it may well suggest that they are not so great - I don't think there is a larger group of sailors anywhere else...

I have a DD8L and really need a second to deal with twin hulls (15m cat) and this is why I am looking at a built in high volume unit that also needs no drainage and runs on 350w (though I guess adds nothing to boat heat as the warm air part carries the wet air out a vent) but if it will really flow and circulate enough air to dry the whole boat with one unit at 350w (two DD8L will use double that on low fan and 4X that on high) then I can run it all winter on solar which would not be the case with 2 DD8L ...
