ECOmar - sewage treatment

saw the ad on the MBY website a few weeks ago and I think I might be interested. Has anyone fitted one? If so any issues? How easy is it to get the hydrogen peroxide (in the med)? Is it silent in operation?

i seem to have to empty the tanks around every 2 days - so if it could continually process waste that would be good.

I think it is around £11k for ECOmar 20 but i dont think i need it that size.

Extra tankage ?
Keep the exsisting set up .
Add where suitable an extra tank .Can be higher ,not necessarily same height or lower .
Fit a Y valve after exsisting pump for the OEM tank .-- when needed after "2days " pump it into the new tank of hopefully suitable capacity ?
Fit a normal Jabsco black macerated pump to this -and connect to exsisting seacock outlet ,add a guage and your done .
Ours lasts 5 days or so with 4 pax -about right.
2 days is a bit short .
Another €11 ,k or less €8k gadget ? seems a lot and another "marine " thing to drain you of € going fwds .

Keep it Simple
Around €1k for the kit ,but you need to be handy with a 40 mm core bora to link the pipage !

it is more the emptying at sea, rather than the number of trips. would need to pay to get it installed as don't really have time - dont get out enough as it is .

having another holding tank installed is another option though.

maybe leave as is for this year as we are nearly always out on the boat 1 in 2 days.

Bump. I'm interested in this system as well, so I'm looking for someone who uses it and can share experiences etc. Will authorities in all countries readily accept that the discharge is clean and legal? Any inconveniences in operation, troublesome maintenance etc? I'm in contact with a very helpful vendor but this is a costly system so I'd like to get some testimonials from folks that actually use these systems.

I did install this in the end around 18 months ago. Had some issues but have changed how I use it to sort these out. Anyway issues I had were:

1: faulty plastic attachment to acid tank. Dripped a little but replaced within a few weeks
2: macerating pump ceased this time last year. Was freed and I now ensure that ever is in the tank is cleaned through by flushing toilets then keep flushing the toilets until it runs again. Not a bad idea as it ensures my toilets are always clean before I leave. Not an issue since
3: seawater pump ceased. Lack of use. Had not used for 6 months. Again was freed and working again. This winter the people who look after my boat will ensure the system is used on a monthly basis by flushing the toilets.

I do have direct contact with the engineer who installed it - so cannot complain about the after service! If for any reason there is a major failure then we have a T piece above the black water tank so it can operate as before - ie straight out to Sea.

Would I buy one again? I would, even though it is expensive and it is on the list for my next boat. It is good to know that when the system is getting full and there are a few days of rough seas that you don’t have to empty in to marina or venture out to sea.
