I've found (just this last weekend) that the Raymarine echo sounder is now causing interference on Simrad VHF Ch 16 (only on 16).

I have a vague recollection that there was a thread on this some while ago and someone had some information - but I can't find it. Any offers please or has anyone had this problem and come up with a solution?

Could be a condenser in the wave generating circuit that has given up, so producing an "unclean" (spiked) signal. You could perhaps try connecting another unit, if available... Should be easy to diagnose with an oscilloscope.
I had a similar problem this year. Eventually, I narrowed the problem down to a weather station I newly fitted. The wireless temperature sender did cause the interference.

Thanks both, I'll try the kitchen foil idea first - it sounds crazy enough to work then a check of all the cable runs and finally it'll be a whinge at Raymarine I guess as I sold the oscilloscope ages ago.

By all means try kitchen foil, it's cheap and no harm's done if it doesn't work. If, however, it doesn't, I would suggest clipping ferrites on to the lead. Not entirely free, but only a few pence each, and you can always re-use them elsewhere later. There will be an occasion - boat electronics are notorious for annoying each other.
