ECF meet at The Wagon and Horses

I still haven't been able to pop in and claim the Duvel offered to the first forumite to visit Sixpence in his new establishment. It got me thinking that we could have a meet up and even BBQ for any interested parties.
I have spoken by PM with Dave and it seems this could be accommodated with a little bit of co-ordination. So is there any appetite to have a meet up which would not get in the way of sailing or already planned events?

I do not confess to be much of a statistician but it seems that we could have a group of ECF folk interested in a meet up sometime between October and December with a mid week and weekend selection. Hopefully Dave will be along shortly to see what is transpiring in the meantime there are a few more days to go for the poll to close but thanks all so far.
I believe re accommodation I recall from the last attempt to get folk to the WandH several b&b's were mentioned within walking distance. More local info to come I am sure.

Hi Ben, just got here following a busy day so apologies for the delay. Obviously I can make any date, and with luck may even manage to join folk this time rather than work through it, be nice to relax with friends for a change so I'm looking forward to it, thanks for offering to organise
As far as accomodation goes, there's a very nice and very reasonable bed and breakfast next door, the Ambassador is owned by my very good neighbour, Phil, and although he does get booked up very early, it's for a good reason. They're very good at what they do and I understand the breakfast goes down very nicely
A little further away there's other places but I can't say much about them as I don't know them, but I certainly wouldn't look at anywhere much over Phil's prices for B&B
Another possible, come to think about it, I doubt Sixpence will have sold before then, if anyone fancies climbing a ladder and sleeping aboard overnight, could be a bit chilly even with heating though, but the offer's there

If it's a day I'm not working, would gratefully accept a bunk aboard 6d (need every penny to complete our refit).
Doubt if any of the usual ECF old codgers could still climb a ladder anyway.

Good to see you the other day too, and for the approving comments regarding the food, I like to think we've come a long way since first arrival, the cod and chips being my own speciality it seems the feedback on my particular baby are very approving. Comes from learning how to do it back in the 70's down in Newquay, 76 was a hot year for working in a chip shop

I feel drawn towards the comment regarding 'full member' here and am trying desperately to remember Mr FC's most accurate and appropriate description, which reads, as I recall.
The ECF is a non formal group, made up of those intent on enjoying good company, with others of similar persuasion, formality and membership of said group is non existent, nothing formal and no membership required. If it required a boat to be on the water it would exclude some (including me) therefore it doesn't even involve boat ownership, only a common interest.
Rule 1 - There are no rules
Rule 2 - In case of any doubt rule 1 applies

You join in any activity or gathering as you are able to, and wish to do, with no obligation, though a smiling face goes down so much better than a Mr Grumpy

Quick point about the menu, and thanks for your kind comments. The menu is regularly updated as we try out new recipes. Currently under review is the vegetarian selection, but before anything goes on the menu it has to be tested to make sure it works. I often fall back on old recipes I cooked as a child with my mother, but even the battered cod had to be tested as I wasn't sure I remembered the batter recipe properly from 1976. I did, it works
Vegetarian options take a bit more research, being a meat eater, but it looks like my latest idea may work very well, thank you MrsPD for confirming, but once the recipe is perfected it goes in writing to the kitchen and those there know I'll be very upset should they divulge it

Main point of my waffle being, please don't take the menu as it stands as being the final menu on the day, it may well have been tweaked before then
