ECF Laying-up supper

Actually, going to try for Walton & Frinton YC. Berth there or at Titchmarsh , and have a cheap minibus. Will look at tides and calendar this weekend.

Can I suggest the RHYC as the location? Great location, food, drink and warm welcome for all.

It sounds like a good opportunity to check out the new clubhouse, it looks great. Will I be allowed to fly a pirate flag though

the last time it was choose meals + money up front & a week before they then said Oh its £60 for the room too. They were told no thanks & we went to the Shipwreck & spent our £s there

Give them a second chance? Fantastic facility built and paid for by members, maybe it has new catering management?

Maybe if it were a dress as a pirate do ? :encouragement:
Afraid after reading about what some members are like, the Shipwreck or FC's suggestion seem somehow, more appealing and welcoming
Hoping to make it wherever it ends up now, but I don't own a blazer so would hate to be turned away at the door after a long drive

I've been on Facebook too long, I can't find the like button for some of these comments.

Thumbs up for RHYC as a dress-up-as-a-pirate event, classic, had me in stitches.

I like the W&FYC idea, not been and very curious to go there.

As it was only two of us at Pirate weekend this year I'd add my vote for a pirate themed laying down supper at RHYC.

Why not try the new Walton & Frinton Yacht Club clubhouse? We have two function rooms which can cater for 50 & 80 people seated with an attached bar that has views of the Backwaters.

Our catering arrangements are currently undergoing a revamp but we hope to be fully functional again in a week or two. We did have a few problems on start-up of our new facilities but these should now all be resolved.

If this is of interest please contact me and I will pass your details on to the Club Manager, or pop down and have a look for yourselves, I will be pleased to show you round. Even those who water-bombed me a couple of years ago. A certain Colvic if my memory serves!

Will contact you this week.......

If W&F does not work for some reason try RHYC.

1. They do have a new and very professional catering manager - I have not heard of any mis-understanding since he joined (there were lots in the past not just yours).
2. I mentioned the pirate flag to a flag officer this weekend and he laughed and said he was off to buy one to see who complained! I don't think a pirate flotilla will cause a problem.
3. Geoff enjoys the challenge of squeezing as many visitors in to the club marina as possible. He may look unhappy/stressed but underneath he is relishing getting all the boats in!

Just goes to show Geoff is still a RN Senior Rate at heart - drip like mad about everything they have got to do but they always do it! BZ

RHYC is available, no room hire, menu similar to Fox's last year for similar price, Pirate theme, not a problem.

25th October is good, so I will start a new thread when I have received confirmation from the Event Manager with menu proposals etc.

Just need to try and sort out a price/availabilityon marina visiting.
