In order to get somewhere near the 1500 miles I have been given top achieve, I was going to suggest a meet in Stavanger, Norway.:D

Thanks indeed. We all had a great time. A great event, well organised and a super location. Our first time up the Wallet was, literally, a breeze. But today - going back - we found out why you all call it vomit alley. Not good.:eek:

Hm. I think the decision to go wind over tide down the alley may have been a little well ermm, you may not want to do it again unless you have to.
Pleased you got home OK though.
 
A weekend well up to the high standards normally experienced with a great bunch of people who I am delighted to call friends. Thanks Jim am Neil (how many miles?)

The rubbish tip made £37 for the lifeboat.

I was glad that you were not in the audience at our inglorious departure as for the first time ever I chose the windward side of the lock and went sideways :o with Sheila holding the front on one side and me the stern on the other. Lock operator comes out and calls "You alright like that" :o

It was a bit gusty and dead downwind in the Wallet (but not too rough or uncomfortable) so we put the genoa away and with a double reefed main got to Bradwell in 5 hours and then had to wait an hour for enough water, holding station to wind cowering under the sprayhood with a cuppa. It was a bit cold. 1745 in with 0.1 under the keel. If I had told Sheila that the forecast was (correctly) F4 gusting F6 becoming F5 gusting F7 then she might have caught the bus home - sometimes the truth is better faced when it's too late :D

Thanks for the bottle of rum prize. We've been collecting strange and esoteric snippets to put into a Christmas quiz next year - look out!

It was good to meet Leigh and Jan - I hope we'll see you at other of the gatherings.

Having wimped out and driven to Shotley (via RHYC), ourselves, we went out for a local sail in the Crouch on Sunday (lively!) and wondered how the Wallet-bashers were getting on. I'm glad you all go back safely!

We didn't get chance to drop in to the Shipwreck and say hi, but did bump into some of you in the lock, although at the time we didn't realise you were part of the forum group. So if that was you on the S29 in the lock late afternoon, that was us squeezed up the side of you. A belated "hi" :)
