ECF Fitting Up Supper

Peter

This Saturday it is Neap tides with a low of 1.3 at about 15:30 so I don't think I will be lifting my keel to get in.

Unlike the Southerly 42 we locked out with at the bottom of a spring tide.
He could not work out why she would not move out of the lock with his 7' plus of keel sticking in the mud. the Lock keeper had to suggest that he lift it.
We followed him out with 1.5m of keel not touching, but it was close.

Anyone else planning on sailing up from the Crouch area?

I think I've bitten off more than Black Magic can chew in order to get there in time for supper. I think we'll need to depart the night before and arrive in the morning.

What are others doing? - I haven't yet learned where you are all based!

Lisa,
leave Bridgemarsh at about 0830, will get you into Shotley around LW 1530 to 1630?

Getting home is more of a faff.....

I am planning to leave Brightlingsea at or just after HW to carry the tide up to Shotley, arriving at LW.

Coming back will be against the tide as I don't fancy setting off at LW (0426)

Any one with a camera please take my pic - topsides polished, new sails, new spray hood and by the weekend new dodgers and stackpack too. BTW I can only afford 1 glass of tap water now and will bring sandwiches!

Thanks Jim
That's kinda what I thought, but then I had the heebiejeebies about the distance, thinking I'd underestimated it. Didn't think we'd get there before 6pm.

Getting home: we're not too worried. As long as we can get Taran home and in bed before midnight! (we've already cut our teeth on the pitch black arrival at Bridgemarsh at low water!). :-)

Sunday we shall not leave until after midday then catch the tide and sail into the sunset:)

You old romantic!

I've got Sunday's tides for Harwich as HW 1053, LW 1655 so the tide won't start running south west until nearly 5pm. Looking at the forecast it is looking fairly quiet from the NE so I will go about 10 and keep in close until past Clacton then have a look at the least expected depth over Colne Bar, there is a deeper bit about half way out along its length. Well that is the plan anyway!

Wunja minor has decided that a new Xbox is more interesting than a meal with a lot of old.... Can't think why myself.

Sorry for late notice. Posting on behalf of PyroJames. Pyro Junior was very sick this morning so we've had to shuffle plans at last minute and don't think we'll make it. Can someone PM me a contact tel no so we can ring and let you know this afternoon how things are going? (Pyro's painting the topsides at Levington and I'm home looking after poorly sprogs but they seem to be perking up some)

Great evening, Jan and I thoroughly enjoyed it,. It was lovely to meet some of you and put faces to usernames.

Thank you Jim for taking over the organisation and seeing that we all had a grand evening.

Hope to see you again later in the year.

Jim

Thank you for stepping into the breach and rescuing the event.
It was great to meet old friends and some new faces.
We had a most enjoyable evening.
Tim's hangover was not to bad this morning.
See you in Oostend if not before.

Yes
A very "Well Done" to Jim & Co.
a very good afternoon & evening, the Tr knew who we were :o when we called in on 80.
Weather was good both days, food very good & service exceptional as 40 + sat to dine.
We had a very good sail out off-shore to day & back as far as the Orwell Bridge managed 8 kts

G pontoon was deserted when I got there around 10.55.
Only D3B was still snoring.....

A good event, its all over so quickly though.

Concours prize to Jolie Brise, the owner bloke must have a lot of spare time on his hands.

Fashion mistake prize had to be Ms Morganettes sunglasses, but I did like the plimsolls all the kids were wearing.

Lovely to meet Leigh and Jan, I know Jan was a bit suprised....

Also glad that Ali and Gordon arrived in time. Power of the internet failed this time.....

The Marmalades were another very welcome family who really joined in. Pity they cant make the Pirate weekend.

Thanks to D3B for the ride up the river, and the Morganas for being their usual charming selves as hosts.

Finally, a big up to the Shipwreck with Sarah and team, and to the Marina for laying on G Pontoon for us. Nice to see there wasnt a spare foot left. Everyone budged up to make space for Black Magic and Lisa's band of troubadours.

Clive and Tim had me in gales of laughter, and doused liberally in Talisker.

Mr Sabre not needed at the till, and it all added up to the penny, unlike last time. Thanks to Roger and SHeila for the bring and buy stall.

ANd finally, the charmingly nice International contingent was there in the form of Vince, who was being nice, as usual.

Thanks all.

Now, who is going to volunteer for the Laying Down Supper?
